Long-tailed WidowPosted by Loretta (Pretoria, South Africa) on 2 March 2012 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio. In breeding plumage, although it seems as though some of is tail feathers are missing. They have very wide black tail feathers when in breeding plumage. Thanks for visiting my blog and the comments that you post. It is very much appreciated although I might not participate as much as I would like to, due to a heavy workload. Strict copyright held by © Loretta Steyn on all images posted on this site.

Florence from Paris, FranceTruly a nice shot, with its colors, so warm. I love the attitude of this bird. 2 Mar 2012 8:47am rick from brisbane, AustraliaAhhh...the red epaulettes, that's what I was looking for. It reminds me just a little of the red-winged blackbird in the States. Nice out of focus background to show this guy up. 2 Mar 2012 9:21am L'Angevine from Angers, Francemais comment fais-t'il pour ne pas casser ces tiges si fragiles.... 2 Mar 2012 5:18pm Ana Lúcia from Leiria, PortugalI'm green with envy with how you do these images!!! :) 2 Mar 2012 6:21pm Baldwin VW from Bejuma, VenezuelaFabulous capture of this beautiful bird !!!
